Shutter Speed

Believe it or not, but the ro0m was completely dark. We shut off all the lights and had the camara do the work. We had to choose some of the camara settings, such as for the Picture Perfect at the top and for the Fun we used a shutter speed of 10". And For the Picture Perfect we set the camaras ISO to about 800, and pretty much left the apperture alone at 2.8. This made our dark room look lite up as if it was never dark and let the lights of the glow sticks stand out. By setting the camaras mode it lets more light in to the picture for a longer amount of time.

ISO: Film Speed

ISO is the film speed, meaning that is how fast the film or the camara lets in the light and how much it lets in a certain amount of time. For example, The first picture was used with just flash. Which drowns out the lights in the background. The 2nd is using an ISO of only 50. That means that it doesn't let as much light in for say, one second that the picture is being takin. This makes it really dark being there wasn't alot of light. Unlike the last picture that was taken with an ISO of 5000. As you can see it becomes a lot brighter because it lets in more like in that one second.

Some reasons you wouldn't want to use a high ISO is if your in a really well lite scenery, because it would make your picture way to white and bright. A good reason to use ISO over flash is if you want to see the lights in the picture of how they really are. Flash drowns out the light to much, as seen.

Metering

Metering is a device on the camara that can be set on auto or do it yourself. Metering measures the light in your picture. It reads the high lights and makes it the brightest and any light lower than it it going to be really dark, anmd vice-versa.

In the bottom picture we measured the light from the computer screen then took the picture. This lets us tell the camara that, that light is the medium light. Thats why it is all you can see in the picture because all the light around it is darker. The top picture was meseared off by modles face. This tells the camara, the light on her face is the medium light, thats why its so bright. Meaning it'll show brighter and darker than the medium light.

Spot metering can help in the future when you want a certain light brightness in your picture.
