Once we were able to look at other progam designs for graduation, I think I placed my layouts very well. It draws your attention to the right places without being over bareing. Although I could have put a bit more creativity into my program. The graphic design on this was actually pretty easy, or easier than I thought it would be. The most important part of this was probably that it said and showed what it was ment for and that everything tied together in some type of way. A word of advise for students in the contiueing classes after me would be to really think about what your going to do for the theme of your program and to really stick to it. A word of advice for Miss. Cook, It'd probably easier if we didn't have to mak the programs at the same times.

Alternate Program: Senior portfolio show
After looking at the rest of the students brochers, I believe I showed fluency, and creativty very well when I placed the puzzle pieces and titles. There are some things I think I could have done better, such as not making it so crowded and so many different things in the whole picture of it. The thing that I struggled with is also one of the things I had trouble ith in the begining, which is the fluncey. I had so many different shapes that I had to make go together and "flow." I think I showed more creativity in this program but I do like my Graduation program more.

Effects
Frames

I dont really like either of the a whole lot but if I really had to pick one it would be the bottom one. We thought about how to take the photo and make it artistic, so what better then me sitting in a frame while in a frame. I could have made it more artistic by using a different postion and facial expression.
Color!
Balance: Asymmetrical vs Symmetrical
.........................................Asymmetrical...........................................

..........................................Symmetrical.............................................
These pictures are my Asymmetrical and Symmetrical photos. Asymmetrical is a balance when looking at it because you may have a diffrent amount of things on each side which you'd think it'd be uneven but it pulls your attention of the emphasis equally.
Symmetrical is when everything in the photo is balanced and has an equal counter part.
Havving a balance of either symmetric or asymmetric is important in pictures because you dont want the people that are looking at the picture to only be drawn to one spot to look at the entire time. By having it symmetric or asymmetric you get balance in your picture so the person that is looking at it will be able to look all over the picture instead of only one spot.

Group Collaboration
This is a group collaboration photo that we did for a small picture. Beleive it or not, it was very hard to get this picture. Just because you have more heads to think about the ideas for it, doesn't mean you'll actually get that many ideas. We are all use to working by ourselves or with one partner. But when you put half of the class together to make one picture, a lot of side tracking gets involved and I believe that was one of the toughest part taking the picture. One major thing I would change would be to try and help keep the group on one subjct and really think about what we were doing. I would also change the location, it would probably be a lot different and have diffrent ideas than what we would have at the school campus.

Artist Statement
This is my Portfolio for my first Photography class. In this you will find all the photos I have taken and worked on in Photoshop. I like having these portfolios that way everyone is able to see how well were doing and our talents. In them we have our Halloween projects in here, project when we were first starting off and learning how to use the cameras. Although it is a class I have, I like coming to it and learning how to do all of these immaculate photos. Also I believe our wonderful teacher has a lot to do with it too. She keeps us chipper and happy ready and wanting to do a great job on these projects and make her proud.
I have learned many things in this class, especially in Photoshop. I do believe it’s one of the best things to have on a computer and is a lot of fun. We learned how to make our emphasis, one that actually stands out. Also how to take a picture and have it be an artistic photograph, instead of just a randomly good snap shot. As you can see in my portfolio I have had a lot of improvement from when I first started this class and now. I look at how I’m going to take the picture more and exactly how I want my emphasis instead of it just being every where. I do believe I can improve in my themes or some of my compositions such as Rule of thirds.
In this class I think I was most successful with photoshop. I caught on quick of how to use it. Were able to do soo many things with it and really use our imaginations. We used photoshop on almost all of our pictures and I believe by using it in my pictures; it enhanced them so much. Now even though I did well in one thing I did struggle with having a big enough image in my head with taking the photos. I could never really think of what poses I wanted or where I wanted it to be. Next semester I hope I won’t have as many problems with it as this semester.
This class has been great so far, we’ve learned so many things and I can’t wait to find out what were going to learn next semester. I have a great teacher that helps everyone with all of ideas and a great Partner (Brandon) that helps me fulfill the ideas of pictures I want. So if you want to keep track of how I’m doing and how well I’m improving, just look at my portfolio every now and then. I keep it up dated with all of our projects. Hope you like it and everyone else’s in my class.

Lyrics

The lyrics I chose for this project are My Angel by Bobby Valentino.
You know what's meant to be is meant to be, you can't run from loveWhen I first met you I had these deep feelings, I knew that you could be the one. We met back in grade school, kissing on the school bus; we were young but just having fun. No stopping destiny now that we're older and we've found each other again, I've learned a lesson that love will find you, if you just let it inI'll never leave you, God put us together 4 Ever My Angel, Never Leave You, You're My Best Friend, And it's to the end, I'll die for you. Sometimes I pinch myself to see if I'm dreaming cause this love we have is so real. When I saw you again I didn’t really know how you would really feel. Every time that we make love, it feels like the very first time. I've learned a lesson that love will find you because its so divine.(I live for you baby) Never Leave You (Yes I do ) I'll die for you (I'll give my life for ya baby) you're my better half, All I need is you to come back in my life. I love you more than I ever loved before you. I'll sacrifice. I'll go insane if you ever leave and right now you're all that I know, we become one. I feel what you feel I'll protect you, I'll protect you baby I will neverleave you.....
I chose these lyrics because it’s the way people see me. I’m the nice sweet one that has a smile on her face and no one wants to lose. These lyrics mean a lot to me because my boyfriend, the guy of my life, dedicated them to me. And I feel like I can be exactly what they say for him and everyone else in my life.
Social Issue
This is my Social Issue. It is peer judgment and how people may look at you and just see what they’ve heard, yet when you look at yourself you see who you really are. In my picture I show a girl (myself) being looked at as indecent or, pardon my language, but slutty; with the smallest mini skirt and long black hair down. And yet she looks in the mirror and sees an innocent young lady that no one would ever expect harm to come from. The reason I chose this statement and how I represented it is because everyone deals with it in their lives. Weather it be from rumors that are there for a short while because of a stupid incident or if it’s just something that’s going around because that’s the way people see you. And you never see yourself that way.

Haunted Chavez

Our project we just finished is called Haunted Chavez. We had to take a theme and make it come to life by using photoshop. The first idea I had was, to make one of my favorite classrooms haunted. The teacher(Mr.Hamilton) in the picture he is suppose to be holding detention but what he doesn’t know it that all of the students are about to attack him. He never suspected it.
In my photograph I believe the hardest decision I had was how to make the students look scary. Also what I should do with each of them. Some problems I faced with making my zombies and killers were making sure they all looked different and they didn’t blend together. I kind of solved it by making sure no one that was a zombie was next to another zombie. With my picture I think I did well with my idea I had. I was imaginative enough to think of what I exactly wanted and went after it. Over all I think my project turned out really well. I followed through with my idea and my zombies turned out very well. Also Mr. Hamilton still has no clue in the picture that he’s about to be attacked.
Critique: Parkeharrison's "Guardian"
There is a man, standing on what looks like a pair of home made stilts in the middle of the broke down, dried up woods. With tree shattered tree branches everywhere, gives texture to the bottom of the page. As he stands on the wooden stilts unsteady, he balances on a tree stump. He leans over, with a confused look on his face, at the branches shackled to his arms lay on top of him. He’s an important man as he wears a dark suit and business suits. As you look deeper into the picture you see the fog behind him, ready to engulf him in its fury.
The value of this picture is remarkable. The dark pitches at the bottom create a total contrast to the beige fog. And right in the middle of the bright fog, the dark man with all of his broken branches stand there, on his wooden stilts, trying not to be weighed down.

Scary Expressions

My first picture is my Zombie. When I look at this picture and as I was making it, it really reminded me of the movie "V for Vendetta". If you've never heard of it, lets just say it was kinda scary and the Zombies were everywhere trying to eat the people because the were exposed to some type of disease. I feel that is what I really look like. It's not to pretty. It also makes me think of the facial expression I have. Its almost a scared look, like I have no control of the urges to eat people and I want help. All in all, it's really creepy.
My next photo is my Ghost picture. Even though my picture doesn't really represent what I was thinking about it was cool. Doing this project made me think of a time, I swore I saw a ghost of my grandma at the foot of my bed when I was only about 10yrs old. It wasn't so much a scary experience but it was quite interesting and slightly soothing.
It also made me think of what could actually be in a grave yard and no one would probably notice, which is weird, and makes me never really want to go to a grave yard at night. Ha, I might get bit by my own Zombie.
My last, but definitely not the most boring photo is my scary face. This pic. made me think I had some type of flesh eating virus. Its gross. But I love my eyes, It makes me look possessed. It also makes me think I'm about to go and attack someone. Another thing it makes me think of is, how many extremely cool things you can do with photoshop.
I hope you like them, and think they're as creepy as 'i think they are.

The Scream: My interpretation
The man in this picture that is screaming, is screaming because he's scared. He does'nt know what is going on around him. The sky is burting into flames while the water is making, what it seems to be a world pool of ditruction. He's at the end of the bridge and has no where to go, so all that is left to do, is scream.Wednesday, October 1, 2008
Creative Me

This project was an opportunity for us to put the tools we have learned to use. We were to take one of our portraits, and change it creatively using the following: selection tools, layers, adjustment layers, layer styles, blending options, paint brushes and opacity.
One major thing I like about this picture is how I was able to color all the words and the sky diffrently because it makes it pop out so much more. A tool that I really liked using was the Magic Wand, because it aloud me to select a big section of the picture, and color all one color with no problems. Such as the "Dial" in my pictue. It aloud me to color it all around its edges almost perfectly.
When using Photoshop, I would say I'm pretty confident with using it and showing how it works.
The picture I took origanily was in color and I loved how all the words popped out. As I started doing this project, I realized that I could do that and make it exactly how I wanted it.

Adjustment Layers

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible. One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle.
While doing this project I had a lot of fun. We were able to go down town and use the scenery as our background. The only difficulties I had as a model and as a photographer what finding what would look right with us(me and my partner, Brandon) and help show who we are. We had a major success though. Being able to go down town. Going downtown was fantastic, you could find almost any background you'd want there. That's why it's easy for me to love my rule of thirds picture, because it shows my artistic side. We plan on going to other places and doing this a lot more!

Contact Sheet

In an overall view of my contact sheet, I think it turned out very well. I like how the names pop out of the pictures and enhance other colors. Also everything is pretty proportionate to each other so your able to see the full potential of the picture. My favorite compostional trick out of all these would probably be.... Macro: Texture. It was a lot of fun to use because it shows us more that what the eye would normaly see, such as colors and textures or what makes those textures.
Compositional Trick #5 Cropping

Cropping is a trick that photographers do all the time, even if they don't realize it. Every time a photographer chooses to cut something out of his/her frame, before they snap the photo, that is in essence cropping. We also have learned tools on Photoshop that allow us to crop an image after we have taken it. When cropping in Photoshop it is possible to improve our composition or change it completely.
How I changed my original photo to this one is by focusing in on one flower with the bee in it. I cut the surounding out of it, which were a few more buds and the top of the cactus. I like this versoin of the photo more because you can see all the colors better and you notice the bee alot more in the middle of the flower. To create this intire image I took away everything that was next to it, but left a little white space at the top afterwards to put my name.
Compositional Trick #4 Extreme Angles

This is my Exsteam Angle photo. To get this picture of my partner, I had to get higher than him that way I can look down upon him. I had to get into a tree to be able to take this picture and get on top of him.
I like this picture because my partner is very tall, so being able to see, looking down at him. Its also in Black and White, which gives you more depth. The shadows hit it exactly the right way and you can see all of him.
I do believe I could have done a few things better, such as the dark shadow on his chest that almost splits his body. It also could have looked better if his pants were a lighter color, that way they would stand out from the shadows more.
Taking a photo from the extream angle, effects you picture, by showing you a differnt anlge that you don't see everyday or that you don't get into alot.
